Tourist Guide is responsible for providing assistance and information on all aspects of a tourism destination or spot.

Brief Job Description

The individual at work coordinates with the travel partners, briefs them on any pre-requisites, understands the purpose of tourist, describes the tourist spot to the customer, ensures safety of the tourists, collects payments, and records feedback from customers.

Personal Attributes

The job requires the individual to have: politeness, customer centric approach, etiquette, attention to details and ability to talk and walk for long hours in different climates.

Course Outcomes

  • Assess the types of tourist visiting different places and ascertain their needs.
  • Identify different categories of accommodation available in the city and different modes of transport available for the tourist.
  • Prepare a project report on travel destination covering history.
  • Interact with different transportation agencies like airlines, Railways, Taxies etc. to find out their routes, timings of flights and trains, the fares of different classes of airlines, trains & rental taxis including Radio cabs.
  • Perform bookings, cancellation, changing if tickets & concession given in railways/airlines and state owned transport corporations.
  • Carryout the registration procedure of different types of vehicles, the formalities involved etc.
  • Carryout survey of tourists at a tourist place to prepare their profile and arrange site seeing tour to local boys and girls to a tourist place.
